A lone double-bass drum kit in the woods, very promising indeed. Earl Shilton is a town in England, it is also the alias of Alex Thomas, former Bolt Thrower drummer. Rather oddball death metal with all instruments being played by Thomas. Released in 2003, "Two Rooms (Full of Insects)" is absolutely ruling, but please don't take my word for it. Get it here:

Thanks for the upload, but I'd disagree with your assesment. There's death metal riffs, yes. Good ones, too. But there are no songs. It doesn't flow at all - it doesn't sound like it's supposed to. It's parts are not disjointed, they're just separate. This could have been played as a single track and it would have made no difference. You could shuffle bits of it around randomly and it would make no difference.
ReplyDeleteSo, I dunno what this guy was going for. It's more like a tape you'd keep for the times when you think "do I have any riffs lying around?".
Yea, this is just one of those weird one-off records that comes out of nowhere and although it doesn't really flatten you, it does leave an impression. Love that cover and the Bolt Thrower family tree branch just makes it even more strange.
