Part 3 of my attempt to right a terrible wrong: those shitty ZZ Top remasterings. Tres Hombres was the third album from the three guys from Texas. Enjoy!
Aesop- I found you by way of the great Mystery Poster. Thank you for doing such a great service to humankind. I've been after this for a while. Many regards!
I searched 'ZZ Top remaster sucks' or something like that in google. I found your site that way, and got to download 2 of my favorite albums I have not owned or heard since the start of the CD era. Vinyl sound ROCKS.
tres hombres is my favorite of all zz top albums. i have this on record, along with fandango, which like you said, studio side isn't all that good (mexican blackbird kicks ass for eternity though) but the live side is fucking incredible!
thanks for posting this...now i can listen to it in the van.
This album is unreal. It makes me angry that fucking songs like "Legs" and "Sleeping Bag" were burned into my head as a youth, and with those lousy cocaine synth-drums as well. NO SOUL! This album rocks, and "anonymous" at the top of the comments is right: the food spread on the Tres Hombres gate-fold is fucking unreal. Cheers!
That Fine-ass spread of Mexican food on the gatefold was taken at a place called "Leo's" in Houston, TX. It's gone now, but they had a wall in tribute to the Top and was a decent place to eat.
The original London Records gate fold vinyl record comes with nifty inner artwork that makes me hungry.
ReplyDeletePlease listen to "Hot, Blue and Righteous" and then "Purple Rain" by Prince. It's creepy...
ReplyDeleteAesop-
