Moëvöt is perhaps my favorite LLN project. Ghostly hymns, disjointed spectral voices, and dismal, cobwebbed cantos make Moëvöt's extremely rare tapes seem closer to EVP recordings than the ramblings of a morbid, sullen French teen. Moëvöt was operated solely by Vordb Dreagvor Uezeerb, a leading LLN figure who also was a member of Black Murder, Brenoritvrezorkre, Dzlvarv, Susvourtre, Torgeist, Vzaeurvbtre, Zelda, Dvnaèbkre, Chambre Noir, and Belketre. Voebr was Moëvöt's fourth demo. It was released in 1995.
can't wait to hear it
ReplyDeletesurely you can't have forgotten the mighty Harrypottre?
ReplyDeleteI always think I hate France until I hear beautiful music like this or read some Jean Genet.
ReplyDeleteI love these posts!!!
If you ever put up any S.V.E.S.T., I would love you forever. They are the best black metal band ever, and I will back that up until the day I die.
Perhaps they could be part seven or eight or five-thousand (long live the cosmic hearse!)!
Hello again Aesop. I wanted to invite you and your readers to my new social network that I have created. It's similar in appearance to myspace (minus all the hormone-crazed teenagers), but it is intended to serve as a hangout for artists, musicians, and music lovers. I have also included a forum category for music bloggers such as yourself to promote their blogs and share updates. If you are interested, here is the url:

I hope to see you there. Take care.

Magma, I agree on S.V.E.S.T. they are great, but not LLN related. France does seem to produce some amazing black metal. I've got some more coming very soon.
ReplyDeleteOne of very few LNN bands that I like. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you should check out (if you haven't already) Aäkon Këëtrëh it's also dark ambient from LNN but released just 3 demos or so.
totally fucked up guitars
ReplyDeleteHmm, this didn't really work for me - too slow, too boring. I recommend checking out the awesome finnish punky bm-band Vordr (in the vein of also awesome Bone Awl) if you don't have already.

ReplyDeleteThe Residents 'the mark of the mole' comes to mind
I absolutely love all of the LLN stuff, but have only gotten into it recently(no thanks to you...). The music of the LLN bands are the closest I've heard to what I would call "experimental" Black Metal. Question: is there a definitive list out there (hopefully in chronological order) of all of the LLN bands/music/bootlegs?? I want to explore more...Take care...
ReplyDeleteWell, the best place to start would be Encyclopaedia Metallum. Just start at Vlad Tepes' page and start clicking links.

.
Your description of this music and Chaogrammarian mentioning Rozz have me curious. Looking forward to listening to this one.
ReplyDeletemoevot is amazing, haunting presence of paranoia and nightmares come to mind...
ReplyDeleteHaunting.
This is some nice spooky stuff. Parts of it sound like they should went with an old "Night Gallery" episode or at least on the David Lynch remake of "Manos: The Hands of Fate". Also, "Cobwebbed Cantos" should be an album title.
ReplyDeleteHey, the link is down. Could you re-up it?

ReplyDeleteHey, Aesop --
ReplyDeleteDo you know what the deal is with the allegations of the “Voebr” and “Voebr II” demos being "fakes" ? And the "real" ones only being the two from '93 and '94?
