This record is incredible. I've heard a couple Misfits bootlegs and seen a vidio or two, but this one is the single only instance where the band comes off as a coherent entity, both musically and attitude wise. There's not one point during the record where I'm not expecting most any band member to jump into the audience to smack some fucker. The "one more fuckin' time you asshole and you DIE" bit is a classic in a classic.
It's goddamn unfathomable that this band has found an audience among pseudo-disaffected "emo" children, considering their consistently violent and antisocial meanstreak of a career. How could some pink/black vertical stripe opera gloves wearing fourteen-yearold girl find anything to cling to in Earth AD? Makes no fuckin' sense.
As for "just because," half this record was recorded 27 years ago TODAY. Helluva coincidence, no?
and i thought i was the only one holding that record in such high esteem.it's everything a live punk album should be:raw, angry,in your face and almost out of control.
Yup, pure awesome. I had a repress, with the band in coffins cover, that I had signed by Jerry and Glenn(on separate occasions), but it's been long stolen. 's alright, though, I'm not huge on autographs. The "Nothing to Loose" bootleg was good. It had a bunch of rarities and live tracks, most of which have been re-released. It's got the "Bobby Steele is an asshole" version of "Teenagers from Mars." I've only got it on tape, otherwise I'd share.
Well, I never heard of this band, but I have faith in your taste so I'll listen eagerly. Your work on this site has educated my ear. Thanks Thanks Thanks!

ReplyDeleteYou are CORRECT, sir. One of the best live albums ever. Check out the bootlegs Black Christmas and Live'79 the Perfect Crime for more.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered who that dude was that is inches from Danzig's face on the cover. Look how skinny Jerry is!
ReplyDeleteIf you get a better rip, I think a repost is in order.
