Pushead's Pusmort label released this weird piece of dour English post-punk from a band called Part 1. Kind of like Anarcho-punk meets classic Death Rock. You might hate this, you might love it. I'm not a fucking mind reader. Jesus.
Thanks so much for posting this, I love this record, been wondering if there was a digical version floating around anywhere. I sat on the fence about buying this for too long when I was a kiddo, then it was gone. >sob, sniff<
One of my favorites, pulled it out about a month ago. Nice to see it making some rounds.
I ordered this from Pushead in the late 80s along with the Gastunk LP and Thrash 'til Death comp and probably several colorful t-shirts with skulls on them ("under license to Wild Oats"). Shirts are worn but still have those records. I remembered Pus was blowing out the Gastunk and Part 1 LPs @ $4 each at the time.
Part 1's only other record was a 7" that preceeded this LP. It was produced by Rudimentary Peni and has art by Nick Blinko— grab it here if you don't have it already: http://www.cultpunk.com/?p=175
A jpeg of a different colorway than the b/w image you have posted here: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_5dsa98YEAJI/RXntt2qCQDI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/VDvuwIoy-Oc/s1600-h/Part+1.jpg (this is a little closer to the original which was black ink on a gray/tan stock)
I remember these guys from the "Cleanse the Bacteria" comp. I never owned a LP copy but had a tape that I played so much it eventually wore out and snapped... will be cool to get some more music from these morbid fucks!
"dour"+"anarcho"+"DEATH ROCK" = download download download!
ReplyDeleteLove the cover, too. Thanks as always.
Cool cover. Post-punk. Worth checking...
