Sleepwalker

Recently I had my mind blown by the Santa Cruz band, Fell Voices. I picked up every bit of merch they had with them. Along with their vinyl, the standout item was this vaguely packaged CDR in an envelope. I think the band is called Sleepwalker, and share at least one member with Fell Voices. Three tracks of beautiful, expansive Black Metal with some obvious post-rock influence. The vocals are buried howls, the music is repetitive and hypnotic. This is excellent. You should hear it.

  7. Haha, this my friend Mike's project! He's the drummer of Fell Voices, and this is his solo project. I don't think there is really anything on the web about them, because I think this was a bit of a one-off thing he recorded around the time fell voices first started playing. I'm not sure if there's any future plans for this, but it is quite good. Go see Fell Voices live, they destroy!

  8. thanks for this!

fell voices are pretty insane live, you can hear the vocals UN-MIC'd THROUGH the instruments... and these guys play LOUD

  10. thanks for this, it's absolutely perfect. so many bands who attempt the black metal/post-rock thing don't understand black metal OR post-rock. these guys really do. i will buy it.

  15. This is really unique sounding. It doesn't quite fall into one mood, which is really special in my mind. Also, the cover is pretty damn cool.

  27. sleepwalker is still an active project.

the three songs on this cdr are only part of an as of yet incomplete album-length work. recording should be finished by sometime this winter.

  28. Michael, are you involved in this project? Either way that is terrific news, this CDR is fantastic.

  30. I've got the CD coming in the mail from Michael, who was kindly enough to send me one. I heard it here first, and by all means we should support Tucker, Michael, and the guys in Fell Voices/Sleepwalker as much as possible. Truly special bands. And from the wee bit of correspondence I've had with them, really kindhearted fellows.
