Black Twilight is the union of the best and most dedicated Black Metal bands in Southern California. The Worship Black Twilight compilation acts as the group's official sonic mission statement. The bands include Ashdautas, Volahn, Arizmenda, Kallathon and Axeman. It would be hard to name a favorite here (perhaps Kallathon,) this is truly excellent from beginning to end and has me dying to hear more from The Black Twilight hordes.
Oh, boy, black metal! I'm downloading this right the hell now, because I have a cold and am miserable and some new black metal is exactly what I need. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am super excited to see you playing with Ludicra in NYC. Let us know if Mayhem honors you with a private audience.
ReplyDeleteyea, i have this and it does indeed rule. love that vortex of sound these bands create. truly sick!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, are any of these bands associated with The Good Faith? I heard they'll give you a cookie and maybe a RAV 4 vehicle.
ReplyDeleteThis comp is great. I agree about Kallathon. Have you heard anything else about them?
ReplyDeleteVey, very solid comp. I picked up VOLAHN's full-length "Dimensiónes del Trance Kósmico" and fuck adore it. Esoteric and distant, but with an inimate immediacy in the music.
ReplyDeleteGoing to the Rites of Darkness fest.,March 6th in San Antonio with Midnight,Nunslaughter,Ashdautas,Volahn and a bunch of others. Stoked.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
ReplyDeleteAre these the folks that have their own "black circle" or whatever?
ReplyDeleteYes! This comp is fucking amazing!
ReplyDeleteThe Black Twilight Circle is definitely some of the most intense, fucked up black metal in the states right now.
Axeman and Kuxan suun( a new Black Twilight band?!?) just released tapes which are all ready sold out, so if yer interested start scouring distros. Apparently dismal cursings will get some.
But yeah, Klaxon just restocked this comp too, so if your into this, pick it up. It comes with a zine too!
this is incredible
ReplyDeleteexactly what i needed. fucking excellent stuff.....
ReplyDeletehey man, rad upload. thanks a lot! have you played any shows with any of these guys?
ReplyDeleteThere's a certain crazed, free-flowing quality that is what I prize most in BM, and these guys have it in spades! Great that they can deliver the sound live too, check youtube for clips of some of these names
ReplyDeleteNo, both my bands exist in an entirely different solar system than these bands.
ReplyDeleteThese bands have such a fantastic sound. One of my favorite albums of last year.
ReplyDeleteIf you are able to get your hands on some of these bands' tapes, please, PLEASE post them!
good listen!
ReplyDeletethanks
i picked this up at the Bone Awl/Volahn/Ashdautas show in Denver last year. all of the bands brought the fury and passion. it was so exciting to see modern USBM that is underground and influenced by a variety of genres...
ReplyDeleteone should be able to find Ashdautas' demo online as well as some Volahn releases. Please do support Klaxon and pick them up if they're still available.
this makes me want to perform rituals on my cat - keep it comin
ReplyDeleteHave been listening to this all winter, fantastic comp. The Arizmenda
ReplyDeletetrack alone.....!!!
Really nice post/blog! Check out lurkerspath, we're trying to provide descriptions, interviews, articles, everythng BM related!
ReplyDeleteludicra is definitly the sickest BM band on the west coast! just watched a full show vid on killthatcat. you guys tear it up live! good luck on your tour with mayhem dude.
ReplyDeleteDid you press this? I was under the impression you had a hand in pressing some of the Volahn/Ashdautas work. This comp, especially the last track is incredible.
ReplyDeleteNo I did not.
ReplyDeleteAesop: Have you heard the new Axeman album? Found someone who is selling it finally so I will get around to ripping it soon, I hope. Thought I would post since I know you dig BTCircle material.
ReplyDeleteSilenzio Statico has a small number of Crepusculo Negro cassettes for distro. Email staticopunx@gmail.com and we might help you find the tapes. There are plans to repress most CN output - so if you didn't catch the first press, catch the second. Every other CN release, beside being on tape, will exist in vinyl format too - either self-released by Black Twilight members or thru Klaxon Records. Crepusculo Negro & Silenzio Statico will be co-releasing our 6th cassette release together in late Feb. for new L.A. band Mata Mata! It's got Japanese/Scandinavian HC punk influences... (ala DISCHARGE)
ReplyDeletethanks very much,
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to discover such seemingly obscure music down here in Australia!
will try to track down the OG somehow!
This must be one of the best compilations I have ever heard. I'm particularly fond of Ashdautas, Arizmenda and Kuxan Suum, but all tracks on this release are magnificent!
ReplyDeleteWorship.
