Sex Style

I shouldn't have to explain to you how Kool Keith is the greatest, most gifted emcee in the game. I shouldn't have to remind you how this prolific eccentric genius is miles ahead of his competition at all times. Sex Style was Keith's 1997 album, his first solo effort after leaving Ultramagnetic MCs. Sex Style pushed boundaries in production, lyricism, and flow. It is a mindblowing accomplishment on all fronts that maybe turned a lot people off because of the cover art and title. At the albums onset, a Rudy Ray Moore sample establishes Keith as one who sympathizes with mack, pimp, and ho.The title track is a sleazy, sinister boast that mentions bestiality, indecent exposure, water sports, rim jobs, transexuals, masturbation, S&M, Madonna, all while KK explains why he is ultimately better than you. This sets the tone for the rest of Sex Style. Keith makes it a point to push forth two main points: He likes kinky sex and he is the best rapper in the world. Kool Keith also lays out his distaste for the industry in the track "Plastic World." More boasts, more deviant sexual behavior, more hooks, more beats, and Sex Style is over in an hour like a seedy encounter at the Sunset Gardens motel.

  1. Dude, I don't even need to snatch this from you, cause I've already been molested by it. But, damn. "Lovely Lady." Are you kidding me? So good, and so good to see it posted along side hate-noise and epic metal.... right where it belongs.

  5. Great post - awesome album. Have you checked out his Dr. Octagon stuff - very solid. And I gotta say, that is the smallest Parental Advisory label I have ever seen - what's the point?

  6. HAHAHA, YES!!!! Ive been listening to this album for years, along with my band of black/death metal fanatic friends. No one matches kool keith. Alot of his albums are hit or miss, but if you like this then check out "First come, First Served".

  7. I love, love this album! It's one of Keith's best! To me, the essential Keith is:

    Ultramagnetic MC's - Critical Beatdown
    The Cenobites - s/t
    Dr. Octagon - Dr. Octagonycologist
    Kool Keith - Sex Stye
Dr. Dooom - First Come, First Served
Kool Keith - Black Elvis / Lost in Space

  10. Feel like a dick for only having the Dr. Octagon LP (the Mo'wax vinly with the green severed limb on the cover, mind you) & a rip of the first Ultramagnetic MCs (found the LP in a charity shop, but it was too scratched to play properly). Cheers!

  21. On a later album K.K. disses Pushead. Think it is Dr Dooom-First Come First Served. Something about not needing Joe Neckbone to do cover art. Keith does cameo on the Prodigy album The Fat of the Land on the track diesel power. He is also on Dan the Automator's album, Motion Man, Project Polaroid with Ice-T, Office Space soundtrack. Check out Ultra with Tim Dog of fuck Compton fame if you have not it is from the same time period as Octagonecologyst and has some great sex skits, space galaxy trip hop and rap industry disses ever recorded.
