When posted Wigrid's Hoffnungstod album, a kind reader from Saarland sent the elusive demo, Ort Der Einsamkeit. This offering from one of Germany's best Black Metal artists is more raw and unforgiving than Hoffnungstod. This has been on my wishlist for some years. Not much has been heard from Wigrid in some time, but hopefully we haven't heard the last from the odd Teutonic hermit calling himself, Ulfhetnar. I guess there is a new Burzum album to chew on.
An ulfhethnar is a wolf's coat. Hail Euronymous.
ReplyDeleteI really don't get what's so good about Wigrid. I gave Die Asche Eines Lebens three consecutive spins and nothing got my attention.
ReplyDeleteI'm a notherfucker hailing from Trier;, Rheinland_Pfalz. Normally we and Saarlanders are somewhat enemies like the old fashioned way, it's a ritualized old story that everyone of you for sure cannot follow. But: this is cool music. One more: I'm addicted to Inquisition, in my opinion the most radical music-statement of the century!!!
ReplyDeleteHave really been digging the No Colours release of "Hoffnungstod." So excited to listen to this.
ReplyDeleteMr. Ulfhetnar looks polite but grimly surprised in this photo.
NPR???? YOU'RE HAUNTING MY HOMEPAGE.HA!
ReplyDeletePound for pound no other singer has as much pain and utter despair in their voice then Wigrid. He eats sad bastard goth rockers for breakfast.
ReplyDeletethere is an ACTUAL new Burzum album as well... it's supposed to be out in march, i think, but it has already leaked! it's called fallen.
