Sentence of Death

Destruction, and this record in particular, is almost enough to make me forgive Germany for certain transgressions in their past. I could write a tome on the cover alone: the clothes, the hair, the sunlight that comes either at the beginning or the end of a day of evil... but then there is the tunes, wild and unhinged, amateurish but so full of youthful thrashing exuberance.

  1. yes. I used to have a cd with this ep and infernal overkill on the same disc. It took me like 10 seconds to realize that sentenced of death absolutely destroys anything else they've ever subsequently recorded. I might even go so far as to say that this destroys the body of Kreator and Sodom too. Love that cover. It's like a goldilocks scenario of permed men. You can have your pick. "Ahh, this dude's juuust right."

  3. I'm sitting in Wellington, NZ airport waiting for a plane to go home, it's 5:30am local time and still dark outside. I log on & what do I find? A chance to be the first comment on one of my favourite records. This and the next release are the shit & I still listen to them alot. Yes, you could base a PhD paper on this record and the cover in particular I think. I especially like the hint of furry boot. Awesome post!

  7. fuck yeah, i've just been getting into these dudes, and am finding them to be my favorites of the german crew. plus now i know where that speedy riffing style on darkthrone's "funeral moon" and gorgoroth's "under the sign ov hell" comes from. anyway, stoked to thrash out when i'm home from work.

  9. Bwahaha Hasselhoff is huge in Deutschland. Kreator, Destruction, Sodom all essential Germanic metal.

  10. Deep in the scene. You can't find this stuff anymore. The world is useless, if all we have is fond memories. Great record, though! THANK YOU!
