Dragster were a well regarded NWOBHM act cutting their crooked teeth in the grimey pubs of some fog-clad shire. These blokes managed to crank out one single before fading into legend. The a-side, "Ambitions" is a straight up NWOBHM rocker, and the b-side is the same sort of tepid ballad that usually plagues the back of these types of records.
Something about that motorcycle/skull-thing looks Juggalo-ish to me.
ReplyDeleteThought you wrote "grimy pubes" and had to rub my eyes.
ReplyDeleteAmbitions is a great tune. Dragster put out a bunch of stuff. I've got a "Heroes of Heavy Metal" lp with them on it doing a suggestive number called "Do It". LOL Yeah, you know the rest. Got another comp of theirs around here somewhere. Anyway, love the NWOBHM ace.
ReplyDeleteFor those with a burning curiosity, the Japanese text on the side says "Heavy metal record" ("Hebi metaru rekodo").
ReplyDeleteObviously the band/artist felt it important to convey this information to their Japanese-speaking audience.
Excellent. Thanks for the info.
ReplyDeletewhat a classic.
