Here's yet another fucked up demo from another one-man Saarland band. Staub is the work of Machosias who also lends his talents to Old Pagan and Birkabein. Staub has more industrial leanings than the other strange Saarland Black Metal hordes. This tape is called Paranoidies and is a compilation of Machiosas' favorite tracks from previous cassette releases. Is PCP sold over the counter in Saarland? I can't figure out why the place churns out such fucked up black metal. Any ideas?

This was really bizzare to me because I normally check your blog for more standard hardcore stuff, but I was born and lived in Saarbruecken until I was 14 and had no idea there was any kind of unique music thing happening there. But yeah, this is pretty interesting. Great blog all around! I especially enjoy the more obscure stuff you post, I've been jammin that Cretacious nonstop, haha!

ReplyDeleteI know of Front Beast, I have the "Black Pest Metal" cassette but only listened to it once, didn't think much of it really. Do you recommend a particular release?
ReplyDeleteBlack Spells of the Damned (only full-length) is pretty damn good in my opinion. A lot have said it sounds like Burzum's S/T mixed with traditional heavy metal. I could try to make my "own" description, but that's adequete I guess. It takes a few spins to absorb and its by no means perfect, but I find it enjoyable and I see much potential for future albums being way better. Although I am nervous that the guy is planning a whole EP of blackened Manowar covers! hahaha. I could upload it to megaupload or something if you want. I wouldn't mind it, considering how much I've taken from your blog.

ReplyDeletethis is the weirdest thing i've heard in awhile. awesome! saarland is 65.1 percent catholic, and is the most catholic state in germany. that might have something to do with people being psychotic there.
