Okay, so not the most obscure metal record there is by a long shot, but still a fantastic piece of work by an often unremarkable band. Riffs for days and and the signature wail of Joey Belladonna. Play it loud and MOSH!!!

I had a soft spot for Anthrax right up until just after 'The Sound Of White Noise', and this is indeed a classic. One thing, though, why does Dan Spitz exist?!?!
never liked this much. can't stand the vocals. cool cover though.
still a lot of lilker riffs on this one. good record.
Young and free something you'll never beeeeeeee
If they would have had John Bush from the start they would've went far. It happens often in metal the music is kickin' then some singer comes in and just kills the vibe. The first three Anthrax are good. State of Euphoria is not.
this was one of the cassettes that brought me toward thrash (along w/master of puppets) i was into 80's hardcore and punk (a skater). it didn't seem like they had spandex on...but i bet they did. there was an edge there... probably the beginnings of the miserable cross over homogenized years. but i wore it out. A I R
I've always thought that "A.I.R." was Anthrax's finest moment.
Still mosh in my livingroom to this one!
I've got memories of bad days in a shithole bedsitting room feeling much more tolerable after the combination of this album and a forty of Olde E.
This album seems to have the power to improve even the worst of moods.
this is the worst belladonna record.you're a fucking moron
Well, You suck dick, you are welcome for all the free music I give you. And you are correct, sir, everyone who doesn't share your enlightened opinion on Joey Belladona is in fact a moron. This is easily the most waterbrained comment this blog has ever received, congrats on being the biggest asshat to ever visit the site. I wish I could give you a prize, like a pinata full of AIDS.
We were skatin' a ramp this weekend, jammin' Among the Living on the ghetto blaster!!!!! Had to download this. Heard Belladonna's back in the fold?
ok, I will say I always liked AIR. the album went downhill after that. stuff like "aftershock" and the one where he's yelping about medusa or some crap, gah...
Yep, Belladona is back on the band. I'm currently living in Santiago de Chile and they are playing here in november I think. Saw them with Bush on 98 and was kinda ok.
I came across Anthrax thru Persistence Of Time when I was like 11, definetely a gateway band for me.
Keep up the good work here.
This has always been my favourite Anthrax album. I think they still took a lot of cues from the NWOBHM camp at this stage so Belladonna's vocals are far more complimentary than on later albums. 'Among...' would have been a greater album if they had a different vocalist with a harder edged voice. Just sayin'.
aesop,im curious to hear your opinion on- and i can tell you dont like the shit, because i had to post it on this anthrax album because its the only thing even remotely similar, plus youve never posted anything l.a. early 80s Metal Massacre type metal,i know- but what im wondering is,is there anything or any band out of those poofter, but sometimes not so bad 80s Metal Massacre albums, like Witchslayer or Sacred Blade, that you might have liked? i mean, old slayer came out of that scene and bitch "be my slave" has the best crust punk riff for an l.a. metal song...
Does Cirith Ungol count?
