I miss him so much. What an endlessly fascinating dude. His verse on Da' Mystery of Shadowboxing is one of my all time favorites.

Holy Shit I love this blog!!!

Word.

What a frantic voice. He always reminded me of early Birthday Party for some reason, that manic voice that could go anywhere at any second-- but way more street and less art than those posh aussies!!

Me too. I've been known to nearly burst into tears trying to explain to people how deep/what a beautiful person he was. An artist. Love the blog Aesop. For serious.

I just listened to Method's 1st last night while the kids were in the bath. I hadn't listened to anything Wu related in years...serendipity? I love when coincidence is too coincidental.

It takes the bastard Ol' Dirty to move the crowd?! Eye kinda like the ICP and Ol' Dirty track "Dirty and Stinkin" but don't tell nobody! ~Punchy the Clown~

I bought this album back in the 90s, owned it for maybe a year without really giving it a chance, and then traded it in for something stupid like Steve Vai or Wilson Phillips. As I was making the trade, I remember having a suspicion in the back of my head that I'd regret the decision.

Yup.

Glad to see I'm getting a second chance.

Definitely the most punk-rock rapper ever. Definitely one of the most important figures in keeping hip-hop interesting during his short, turbulent existence. I was hoping you would post this someday, as his M.O. totally fits into your love of the terminally determined fuck-ups who keep it weird. Thanks for keepin' it real Aesop.

wow....i just really had my mind blown by this.

O.D.B. was awesome, I used to have Shimmy Shimmy Ya from this album as my ring tone for many years.

I kinda wish you posted Nigga Please also. I personally feel that some of his most uplifting, bizarre, and general greatest songs are on that album. He even does the most incredible cover of cold blooded by Rick James. It's totally sick.

Everything this guy did was gold though. Ol' Dirty Bastard helped teach me unconditional love!

"He's not the Young Dirty Bastard, he's the Oooooold Dirty Bastard!!" When touring germany with the wu tang he totally vanished for almost the whole tour. finally they found him in some cheap brothel. style.

The coolest thing my brother (and extension me, for telling this story, I HOPE!) is filming being offered some clams by ODB at 3 AM on Coney Island.

RIP ODB

Course I miss him!
I worked security for a show where Meth was supposed to headline. He couldn't make it.
Odb was supposed to fill in.
Guess who didn't make it either?
Anyway, the Roots did a double set, before anyone had heard of them, '94 or so? Blew my mind.

Yep, miss him madly. Just yesterday, I was listening to a great cover of Britney Spears "Toxic" by him and Mark Ronson...better than the original by leaps and bounds.

I quit listening to everything else when this album came out. I was in total awe and still feel blessed to have found it when I did.
