Well it was more like three weeks but I had a blast. It was really nice to meet so many Cosmic Hearse supporters face to face. You all are too sweet, really. Besides meeting so many cool folks and camping under big skies with my brothers and sisters in Ludicra, the highlight of the journey was seeing and hanging with the amazing Columbus, Ohio metal band Deadsea. Their insane mathy Atheist meets Mercyful Fate meets Venom trip fucking blew my mind. Bassist, Alex, said it would be totally cool if I posted their CD here, in fact he seemed really excited to have you all check it out. Deadsea may be the best metal band in the USA that you have never heard of. You decide. It's good to be back.
Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteI loved this instantly. Thanks for sharing! I'll have to catch you the next time you roll through Minnesota. Haha, hopefully I'll actually have some cash then.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back dude! Looking forward to checking this album out. I really dug their tunes on their Myspace. Cheers!
ReplyDeletesorry i couldn't meet you at the Cobra Lounge show in Chicago, i was house/dog sitting at mom's an hour away.
ReplyDeleteWELCOME HOME !!!
ReplyDeleteglad to hear you guys an gals had such a great time
look forward to hearing this
and i think thats great that dude was so open to getting this uploaded
cheers
waouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
ReplyDeletegreat
Nice one. The Atheist reference scared me a little bit, but it was nothing I couldn't handle. Funny though Metal Archives classifies them as Melodic Doom/Death Metal and their lyrical themes as political. I fail to see both. Very good music.
ReplyDeletewelcome back Aesop!i don't know if Deadsea are the best unheard of U.S. metal band but they are indeed amazing and deserve to be more widely known.
ReplyDeleteGood to have you back! I missed the show at Middle East, and am disappointed.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great tour, hopefully you guys can get down Australia way sometime.
ReplyDeleteAnd that photo is awesome, like somebody took photo's from Sepultura's Arise and Soundgarden's Badmotorfinger and then made them fight each other.
myspace tracks kill.
ReplyDeleteyou guys laid my mind to waste in NYC, one of the best shows I've seen all summer!
ReplyDeleteWhy'd you post a pic of Al Jourgensen? ;)
ReplyDeleteI smoke way more crack than him
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Aesop.
ReplyDeleteHope you guys can make it to Texas soon!
I didn't know Donald Fagan ran this sweet blog!
ReplyDeleteGlad the tour went well, but still bummed that I missed the DC show. Will definitely check out Deadsea, since I lived in Columbus when going to school. That is one bleak, dreary as fuck town.
ReplyDeleteVaters ?
ReplyDeleteVic Firth ?
What ?
Vic Firth 5bn nylon tips.
ReplyDeleteour new band was just talking about these guys YESTERDAY! I haven't heard them yet, but will in 3 minutes...
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
dude! This is more like King's X/Venom meets Mastadon. I was sold on this reallllllllllll quick. I am off to Relapse to buy a copy.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!!
ReplyDeleteAnd as handsome as always!
AND with a Discharge entry too!
Welcome back dude. Too bad you didn't have a Detroit or at least a Toledo date. I probably could have indirectly hooked up something for you. Next tour!
ReplyDeleteAnd now, I return to letting you test the capacity limits of my harddrive!

I missed meeting you in Columbus because my band was playing Voice of the Valley down in West Virginia, but I agree Deadsea is a great gem from this city. Some other killer Columbus metal right now is Locusta and Nukkehammer (the latter being a bit more on the punk side as well.) Check them out dude, catch you next time.
ReplyDeleteAnd also check out Desiderata, their previous effort, that's how I got to know 'em a couple of years ago. Great band indeed!
ReplyDeleteI am from Columbus and have had the incredible pleasure of watching the almighty DEADSEA melt faces for years now. Their live performance is true spectacle to behold. It's too bad they don't tour more. Easily one of the best bands in the U.S. and all around genuinely awesome dudes. Was so fuckin psyched to see this posted on here, and see these guys getting much deserved attention.
ReplyDeleteAside from Nukkehammer and Teeth of the Hydra, another incredible Columbus band that is surely going to turn heads shortly is Struck by Lightning. Their new record "Serpents" drops next week. I could not be more pumped for that.
Welcome back Aesop. Long live the hearse!
Glad I've heard of them now! Fantastic album. I hope to see them live sometime.
ReplyDeleteExtremely good stuff! Any chance of posting the 1st album from Deadsea?
ReplyDeleteexcited for you to be back :)
ReplyDeleteYou should, uh, play Salt Lake City some day.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, I finally listened to this. IT IS GOOD! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSt Paul was rad. Seeing you guys was by far one of the best times ever :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, if you like this Deadsea album definitely check out Desiderata. It's near perfect! And investigate Teeth Of The Hydra and Black Dove as well. Columbus has an amazingly diverse and supportive metal scene!
ReplyDeletegot to see Deadsea and Teeth of the Hydra years ago in Athens, and they continue to impress! sweet fellas, too. glad to see them getting some props.
I love this record, It kind of reminded me of old time Milwaukee band, Realm with better riffs and vocals.
ReplyDeleteI wish they would tour outside of Ohio more often.
Speaking of unsung Midwestern metal, have you ever peeped Ares Kingdom, good timey American Death with some classy guitar solos thrown in.
...and welcome back Mr.Aesop.
Deadsea have promised to come west next summer. Absolutely love Ares Kingdom/Order from Chaos and all things Chuck Keller.
ReplyDeleteVery cool band good sir.
ReplyDeletetried really hard to make it out to your show in Manhattan but it wasn't in the cards that night. back in sunny florida now, what kind of metal band doesnt come to florida?
ReplyDeleteOne with members who grew up there and never want to go back.
ReplyDeleteI'm diggin' this... solid.
ReplyDeleteAesop, man, you are hot.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I passed this up when you first posted it. After mentioning their tour on Facebook, I decided to check it out. This is absolutely amazing!
