Abigail was formed in Tokyo in 1992. They dubbed themselves "The most evil band in Japan" and set on their course for total Satanic Black Thrash purity. Blasphemy Night was Abigail's second demo tape and was self-released in 1993. This early effort contains two originals, a Sodom cover, and a Bathory cover.
When I toured with Sigh some years ago, a couple of the guys from Abigail were playing with Mirai, and I've got to say I didn't notice a lot of evil going on. In fact, I'd have to say they were very nice. Not that I'm trying to burst the Evil Bubble or anything.

Way different than later stuff. Never been a huge fan of the new stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to check this out top, I'd only heard later era Abigail. I remember seeing them at Gilman and being let down. They came off more like a wimpy garage rock band than Satanic thrashers. I was bummed, I think I even left halfway through their set.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the upload!
More evil than Sabbat, even! The last track was a little too evil for my I-Pod, no big deal at all. Great stuff, Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm more familiar with 'Intercourse & Lust' than the newer stuff. I prefer Abigail rabid & filthy rather than merely speedy. Thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite of the early Abigail releases. Unlike some folks, I really like their more recent street metal material as much as the older black metal, especially the new LP "Sweet Baby Metal Slut" on NWN!
