eldopa

Recently Eldopa played a string of reunion shows around town and I was reminded of their feral, angsty Oakland crusty hardcore greatness. It would also seem that TeePee records had the good sense to release a complete discography which has some demos and live stuff I never heard before. If you have any doubts as to why you should pick one of these up I am posting their self-titled 7" from 1996.

  2. Hell yeah, eldopa kicked arse. Their track on the "Shit Gets Smashed" comp. hauls major ass.

Another band from that era, Dead and Gone has all their stuff online to download.

  3. Here's a link to the "Shit Gets Smashed" comp. The guy who posted this gives a history lesson on the scene at the time, and even for each band on the comp!

  4. Such a blast getting to see these guys again at Annie's the other night. Hadn't seen them since the year this 7" was released. This album blew minds back at Eureka High School upon its release. It became the standard by which all other crust was judged. Epic shit which holds a dear spot and my dark, shrivelled, bitter little heart...

  6. They changed the name to 1332 after being harangued by another lesser eldopa.

  7. Great record, picked it up the day it officially came out. It's a lot better than the LP, which was poorly mastered. But I think the discography CD might have solved that problem.

I've got some of their live shows on tape (including their first Gilman show), and I'm working on getting those converted to MP3. Hopefully that can happen soon so we can take a look at a fantastic live band through The Evil Eye.

  11. holy shit, i just downloaded this and had to comment. this is absolutely perfect. what's amazing is how it sounds so intuitive and yet so genre-specific. rather than modeling themselves on any band in particular these dudes just had crust punk coming out of their fingers. this is raw, minimalist extreme music done right. i will definitely pick up the discography.
