One of many bits of Carcass ephemera to be released in the interim between Necroticsm and Heartwork, The Tools of the Trade EP. You get the title track which sounds like it could have been on Necroticism, a version of "Incarnated Solvent Abuse" mislabeled as "Incarnate Solvent Abuse," and updated versions of older songs, "Pysosisified" and "Hepatic Tissue Fermentation." Very fucking cool.
CARCASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete(nuff said?)
Glad it was only one day without!!!
ReplyDeleteneat cover, very uh... educational. can't say post-Reek Carcass excites me too much, though. I mean they had good riffs (Necroticism) but the songs just went on and on..
ReplyDeleteactual modern autopsy tools are not as intimidating as you see there. some things i remember from my exposure to one: a vibrating bone saw (which is the same as the ones they cut off casts with), a regular garden hose, and small pruning shears to cut the ribs out.
ReplyDeleteNasum did a cover of the title track which renewed my interest in carcass after a three year brake. Before that i was starting to believe, as did mr. e normous, that they where going on and on. But they were brilliant. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention. Have you been circumcised? :)
ReplyDeleteNot recently.
ReplyDeletethis was a nice cassette find at that one record store in miami, the one ran by a nice cat lady.
ReplyDeleteDamn, I used to have this when I was disgustingly obsessed with Carcass. Still holds up to this day. That reunion tour wasn't bad. Sucked that they we're charging an arm and a leg for those shirts with the Tools artwork. No pun intended. Do you have that Peel Sessions album from a while back?
ReplyDeleteSo, what's up with the latest post getting nixed?
ReplyDeleteThe issue was resolved and there is no need to clutter up the site with announcements
ReplyDeleteTools…, situated in the immediate context (both temporal and aesthetic) of Necroticism, is the apotheosis of Carcass. The realization of their project was never more complete (retractors), cohesive (mallets), precise (rugines) or concrete (benders), either before or after.
ReplyDeleteCool, didn't mean to pry but I didn't actually get to read it (just saw the first few lines on my blog's Dashboard and was wondering what it was all about). To be honest I was a little worried that you were in some kind of "trouble". Wouldn't want to lose the Hearse because of any sort of misinterpreted PC bullshit. Anyway, as it's resolved, I'll shut up now.
ReplyDeleteI can see why people dislike the latter day Carcass, but this right here, this is not hate-able dudes. This destroyed my death-metal-virgin mind as a youngster. Love it!
ReplyDeletewow. there's enough syringes to catch even _my_ eyes on this album artwork. jeez.
