Jealousy

Really the only official Chavo-fronted Black Flag release. Many hold Mr. Ron Reyes as the best Black Flag frontman of all time. Well, I don't know about that, but this was my first exposure to the band that would ultimately have the most impact on me. Surely everyone has this already, but this post is more about the sentimental value to me. Maybe it's a been a while since you listened to it...whatever.

When I saw the headline "Jealousy" in my RSS feed I immediately thought of this record. Smoking record by the most important band of all time (even though the last song fucking sucks.)

  3. "Revenge" was everything I wanted to say as a 16 year old suburban skate kid in the 80s.

  4. yeah gotta go with dez. i always though chavo was a hero until i came across his myspace page a couple of years ago and saw he was a born against christian family man. someone crucify him with nails from his well-stocked garage.

  5. One of most raging e.p.s dropped! I think Ron was awesome on this album, but I hear the whole "greatest Black Flag frontman" thing all the time too and don't get it. I am firmly a Dez/Rollins fan. I guess Ron was a real douche, thus the reason Raymond labeled him Chavo Pederast on the album sleeve.

  7. Yeah, Ronny's always been my favourite. Snotty-nosed skate punk belligerence. He was cool in Decline of Western Civilization.

  9. Yes, Ron's penchant for preteen punker poon is legendary. I think there was a lot of cock rock styled misogyny in the SST camp.

  11. Used to have this one on vinyl. Shoulda listened when the second hand record store clerk said "you sure you want to sell all this punk rock." Found a live bootleg of the Process of Weeding Out on the interwebs it is from Los Angeles '85 and it is on fire. The Flag rules in all its formations and line ups.
