Another Black Twilight Circle release that will soon be out of print and hard to come by. Arizmenda is sort of the BTC supergroup with two vocalists and members of Kallathon, Ashdautas, Axeman, and Volahn filling out the ranks. Within The Vacuum of Infinity, in my opinion, is the best release to come from this incredibly productive and provocative scene as of yet. I only hope there is more to come from all these bands.
My favorite of the bands.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely my favorite out out of the BTC.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for posting this. Very interested in this group of bands. The earlier ASHDAUTAS post is a mind-shredding work of dark art. Have also been able to track down Volahn's full-length, which is also extremely stunning.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of their set at Yer Hauz - the singer taking a dramatic pause by kneeling on the ground and using the time to open a bottle of beer off of the floor tom.
ReplyDeleteI remember downloading this sometime ago. It's some fantastic Depressive Black Metal.
ReplyDeleteI saw these guys along with Ashdautus, Volahn and Axman at Chaos in Tejas this year. They were all really good. Arizmenda was probably the most disturbing, with the main guy's shirtless torso and arms covered in scars, him kneeling there howling and vomitting.
ReplyDeleteI love this record, I'm glad you finally posted it. I d/l'ed it from another (lesser) blog after I heard the Black Twilight comp, and this record is beautiful! They are definitely my favorite band on that comp, by a long shot. I'm a live sound engineer at a club in Atlanta and I listen to it every time I need to completely forget what I just mixed at the end of the night.
ReplyDeletep.s. I've been a fan of the Hearse for a while, sorry I never commented till now. Thanks, Aesop!
In my opinion, this tape (along with Ashdautas's catalog) is what makes the BTC unique for USBM. There are way less points of reference in the music, unlike Volahn and Axeman. The outcome feels nothing short of genuine and inspired.
ReplyDeleteAren't all of the BTC bands some sort of BTC supergroup? Its like some grim version of musical chairs. I saw Arizmenda, Axeman, Volahn and Ashduatas the last time they came through Portland and my favorite part of the show (besides seeing Furdidurke) was seeing the "off" band members sleep through the other group's sets.
ReplyDeleteI don't dig BM usualy but this post made me curious, let's give it a shot ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent piece of music!
ReplyDeletecool! i really, really dig the type of black metal you post on here. thanks and keep'em coming!
ReplyDeleteAwesome - thanks for posting this :D - went and tracked down then ordered a copy of the tape after listening! Very cool - kind of reminds me of a combination of Leviathan an Fell Voices...sort of.
ReplyDeleteIs it my imagination though that in track 4 (The agents of transformation)you can hear a "beep beep beep" cellphone interfering with speakers type sound at around the 4:47 mark? is this part of the original recording?
Thanks again!
all Crepusculo Negro tapes are home-dubbed & many have audible flaws like the one mentioned. I have to stress that the audio quality in these releases really is subpar compared to the quality of music. I must also stress that noone should mailorder directly from the label as many people including myself have been ripped off w/ no reply. I hate to bring this up seeing as i fully supported the label for a long while until they started pulling this stuff on a majority of fans. It's really a shame that such a promising label shoots themselves in the foot by disrespecting fans like this.
ReplyDelete*note* I would not bring this up if i did not know of MULTIPLE people who were ripped off on preorders that never shipped & were used to fund the next releases. really shameful & disappointing
Great blog Aesop, keep up the good work!!!!!
Sean
This band has some good pizza!
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Thanks again Aesop
ReplyDeleteBlack metal is alive and well and living in hell!- except that hell is L.A. county and one can easily find good Korean restaurants.
Seriously, this is great stuff, and it is something new- not just a rehash on the ole Norwegian days.
