Who keeps the flame of true Hellenic Black Metal alive? Kawir, that's who. Here is an early EP from one of my favorite Greek Black Metal bands. Kawir uses a very traditional approach. The old Olympian gods (Varathron, Rotting Christ, and Necromantia) are invoked in their mid-tempo trudge, liberal use of archaic keyboards, and lyrics singing the praises of Zeus. All that and and an excellent flying space Parthenon make for a truly epic release.

it alway surprises me when Kawir are mentioned in the same breath as Varthron, Rotting Christ, Necromantia et al. There's not only a difference of skill but a generational one too.
Agreed. Check out Heptameron instead.
Heptameron were featured here on the Hearse some time ago.
I hate keybords in kawir. And some of that ancestral loving.
Kawir have managed to Keep a very distinct torch blazing and into newer realms than the other bands mentioned.
