Happy Birthday, America. You have your faults and problems, and lord knows you have plenty, but you are still one kick ass nation. The MOST kick ass if you consider how you brought the world Deicide, the idea of frying anything, and denim. Even the shit you didn't invent you perfected, like porn. Sure, at times your'e loud, obese, quick to anger, and frightfully stupid, but at times you are sincere, fun-loving, and affable. It's your fucking birthday and at 234 you are young as countries go. Go apeshit. Drink too much tequila from a sorority girls bellybutton, punch out a lesser nation, piss on some accord or treaty, and forget it all in the morning when you wake up feeling like stepped-on bacon. Let's all listen to the F.U.'s My America album today.
I love My America, musically it's so much better than Kill For Christ. And the lyrics are awesome too, it's hard to see how people didn't get that the FU's were taking the piss out of everyone, that people really took them seriously is hysterical to me...
ReplyDeleteI'm friggin' pumped!

God Bless the U.S.
ReplyDeleteI saw the F.U.'s in Boston in 85 and I'm pretty sure the drummer was a straight up skinhead. I'm known to be wrong though. I always dug those guys. As always, thanks for sharing Aesop!
ReplyDeleteAmerica©...Fuck Yeah!
ReplyDeletestill to this day, one of the best shows i ever saw was the F.U.'s at CBGB in the early 80's... they threw it down! happy B-day my America!

some of the best music ever recorded! well written, ultra ferocious and inhumanely fast. it's a pity that neither "kiil for christ", nor "do we really want to hurt you" don't keep up with this masterpiece. they should have recorded at least five other albums as great as this one! :) two major things coming from america that i personally am very thankful for: comic books and rock'n'roll!

I, too, was honored enough to see F.U.'S pummel an audience back in 83. Whatta show, man!! Funny how they coped their cover from a gospel record.
ReplyDeleteGod bless the USA, leave it or lump it.
You RAWK, Aesop!!!!!!!
