Forest

Here is the self-titled debut from one of the Blazebirth Hall's most important bands (for more on Blazebirth Hall go here) Originally formed in 1994 by Blazebirth bros Ulv Gegner, Dagorath, and Kaldrad, the band didn't release this hypnotic gem until 1996. Soon after, Dagorath left Blazebirth Hall and abandoned their staunch right wing ideals. It has been rumored that he is now dead, perhaps even rubbed out for doing so. Violence and death struck Forest once again in 2005 when Ulv was murdered under mysterious circumstances. Forest carries on as the concern of Kaldrad, the remaining original member. If you have experienced Blazebirth Hall, you know what to expect, everyone else is in for a treat of hypnotic, ethereal, Russian Black Metal. Distant, cold, and otherworldly. This album is colossal.

  1. Thank you for posting this. I was looking at my LP of this and I see the track "Crywind" is missing. Am I wrong? -j

  2. Possibly my favorite Blazebirth Hall band.

I wonder if Russian Nazis are torn up inside over their country basically stopping the German army in their tracks.

  4. Nice. My favorite black metal band of all time. Or one of them at least! I don't know how you find your info on Blazebirth Hall stuff because I can't seem to locate it anywhere.

  6. i don't know what would make a russian want to embrace german style fascism, but i do understand why people who lived under the yoke of communism would want to swing to the whole other end of the pendulum.

  8. maybe, but a Russian would have to see beyond the 26 million Russian casualties in the eastern WWII theater to get to that point. now i'm a dorkus malorcus

  9. well, as russian citizen, i must say that Blazebirth Hall have a cult following in russia, mainly in neonazi circles, but a lot of people really dig early BBH stuff.

as for the nsbm - i always liked Lord War from Poland. They were like "right" Blasphemy - raw and brutal, much more complex than canadians.

  11. i know my younger punker self would kick me in the nuts for saying this but i love this band. first heard them on the aquarius records new arrival list (i also blame aquarius for my graveland addiction...) a few years back and its been my go to band ever since if i cant think of what else to listen to. i never get tired of it.
though lately theyve been usurped by lascowiec which i cant stop listening to. (i blame cosmic hearse for that one.) thank you.

  12. "i know my younger punker self would kick me in the nuts for saying this but i love this band." You said it best, "anonymous chad"... I too feel some sort of guilt for liking this band so much, but I think I've grown wiser and hav efinally been able to attempt to see things from a neutral point of view, with all things... And trying to understand the differences between some suburban twats that claim to be NSBM or Nazi's or whatever, and people who have lived in countries devastated by war, conflict, and oppression. We (especially Americans) Have no idea of the realities of living in another culture outside of our own, and I think that is how I justify being able to appreciate art and music for being just that.... Seeing through my own bullshit has allowed me to see through other people's, and just appreciate the few really good things out there... And this band is one of them.

  14. Controversial statement, but I think that the US band Lascowiec does the Blazebirth Hall sound better than the bands they emulate, at least on the first demo anyway. So evocative. The only band from the BBH axis I can think of that is as trance-inducing is Raven Dark, whom I have always preferred to the rest of that scene's output.

  15. I'm loving this. I prefer raven Dark, but Forest is amazing as well.
