One of your favorite albums slowed to 33rpm and ripped, creating something that sounds like the most monstrous crust band of all time. A new way to listen to an old classic. Don't sue me. And this post is dedicated to the memory of Matty Luv, who left the earth exactly eight years ago.

ooh. this is REALLY good.
I heard this before, I'd say it almost sounds like Bolt Thrower meets Paradise Lost or something. Definitely better and way heavier than playing it at the correct speed.
My favorite Metallica album made even better!
RIP Matty Luv!!!
F**kin' brilliant.
Let's do more!
I've noticed that the Judas Priest Song "Pain And Pleasure" (off of Screaming Vengeance 1982) sounds quite fascinating when played at about a 30% speed reduction. The guitars get much heavier, the solo turns all trippy, the drums become much more pronounced and Rob's voice sounds positively demonic and hateful. It's like some kind of extra-dimensional psychedelic doom metal track with an angry, stoned Muppet on vox.
Out of all the pre-Justice albums, this is my least favourite. I have deleted Trapped Under Ice and Escape from my mp3 collection because those songs are fucking awful. Call Of Cthulhu also drags on far too long.
I also prefer Migraines version of Creeping Death from Death To False Metal Vol. 2, which features two Dr Dre Del tracks...
The drums....it's got that valve releasing gas sound on the snare that From Enslavement to Obliteration had........fucking A
anyone have any idea just how much this drops the pitch???-
RIP MATTY LUV
Hickey will be in heavy rotation today! (like every day but more so today)
I have to admit, this is pretty bad ass...great soundtrack for the rainy ass weather east coast has been having
This is the weirdest thing for you to have posted today. Last night, my roommate and I spent about 4 hours playing almost all of our 45s at 33rpm and decided to theme a party around the best ones. Seeing as you occasionally read our minds like this, we're taking it as a sign this time and are going ahead to make this album the centerpiece of the evening. Cheers.
"Escape" is a classic USHM style song, dammit!
Laaaaaaaars is going to taaaaaaaake you to court... veeeeeeeery... sloooooowly.........
fucking brilliant! cheers aesop
HOLY SHIT! james hetfield sounds better than ever. now to start a band that actually sounds like this...
I remember hearing one of the songs on YouTube. James Hetfield sounds pretty funny at 33rpm.
i wish i could find the blog that used to do this constantly, but i have a ton of rips at lower speeds just to increase the "heavy" factor of things, it was actually one of my favorite part about buying records when i was younger, finding the optimal speed....i listened to a sleep record for a while on a slower speed before a friend played it faster and my mind went "ooooh."
A chopped and screwed Metallica album! Found an instrumental remix of And Justice that pushes Newsted's bass to the front of the mix. All in all a welcome break from the puke flavored backwash Peter Frampton/Bob Seger/U2 marathon that is local radio. Thankyou.
This is one of the best ideas I've ever heard of. Including electricity, the internet & the bowling ball.
Can I suggest a Slayer record next, or would heads explode?
Damn! This is heavy as hell, I have to find more rips like this...
two favorites a long time ago: When Doves Cry 45 slowed to 33, and steve reich 16 musicians lp played at 45...
Looks like I'll be the first to say it, but I really don't like this (and to clarify, I love Ride the Lightning).
Wasn't it Cheech & Chong that said they played Black Sabbath at 78rpm and saw God? Someone needs to be the chop and screw guy for metal albums. It is not coppin' the real DJ Screw's style because he never chopped full albums only singles.
YES, somebody do SLAYER!
Wish I could have met you Matty Luv. You made America a better place for kids like me a 7 inch at a time.
Try Whodini's "freaks Come Out at Night" at 33rpm.
I have the gatefold 2x45s Lightning (Direct Metal Mastered! The sticker on the sleeve proclaims) and tried this many years back, but when I got the mp3s I found the only one with lasting appeal was Bells...
Aesop - also applicable - In-a-gadda-da-vida @ 45!

this is fantastic. Love it.
i have always been a big fan of playing HHIG's "monuments to thieves" at 33... i recently mentioned this to someone who told me their favorite album to slow down was orchid's "chaos is me"... so i tried it, and it sounded EXACTLY like HHIG!
I had a friend who bought the Weird Al "Eat It" 45 when it came out. One day when we were getting ready to go to the movies, he threw it on 33 and I swear it took that fucker forever to get ready. He was all "eeeaaaaattt iiiitttttt" looking for socks in slow motion. It cracks me up every time I think about it....... he's dead now too.
R.I.P. Steve and Matty

now im all screwed up just like DJ Screw...this fucking rules/overdose on cough syrup/!
Brilliant..
Holy BALLS! This takes me back to a time in 8th grade me and my pal Mark were stoned out of our minds and laying on the floor of my mother's apartment listening to this album (on cassette tape along with Alice Cooper's "Raise your Fist and Yell!"... Well my mom didn't know about upkeep of electronic components so the heads were all dirty and draggy you know? Really fucking cool to a stoned teenager who dug the kind of "heavy metal is satanic" vibe of the early 90's. Thanks again Aesop!
Cool as Hell, Thanx a bunch for this!
HOLY SHIT
FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS IS GNARLY AT 33 RPM
Once, My friend made a tape of master of puppets backwards and called it "Pastor of Muppets"
I tried this trick to Europe's 'Final Countdown' 12" and Joey Tempest turned into Messiah Marcolin.
Why is the "slow down the album/song" thing such a hit everywhere these days? Boooooooooring.
Love the Hearse, though. Sorry, Aesop.
Wow!Heavy as hell!?Had to explain the whole "chopped and screwed" process to my pure doom metal buddies!!!Fight fire with syrup!
i remember hearing 2nd bolt thrower album on 45 rpm ages ago..could someone do that one, please.
funny, i used to do the opposite of this and make recordings of my "black album" tape on high speed dubbing with the guitar solos cut out. this was, of course, before i had ever heard grindcore.
As an LP, wasn't it already at 33 1/3?
The RIDE THE LIGHTNING vinyl LP was already at 33 1/3 RPM. So, what speed is this?
hahahahahaha James sounds like a big black guy singing in fade to black like this
I'm assuming this is the 45 RPM double vinyl slowed down to 33.
^^^ I take it this is from the 2x45rpm 12" Euro pressing; playing a 45 at 33-1/3 turns Low E into Low B
This is ripped from the new remastered Ride the Lightning 2xLP, which plays at 45rpm.
I've got the 45rpm RTL that Music For Nobheads released in 1988. I cherish it.
My friend back in the late 80s accidentally dubbed a slayer single on 33, and It was SO good. Can't remember what song though.
For those who dig this, the free Audacity software for all platforms can easily slow down or speed up any audio file, with or without pitch change. Might not be as cool as ripping vinyl and all that, but when you need a fix...
Is metal getting Skrewed? When I first moved to Texas and heard DJ Skrew blaring from cars I was confused. Now I understand; suddenly this is a whole new album.
Somehow I think it would not work with MoP or anything later, but I'm open to the possibilities.
whoa
thank you much
Just another comment echoing how great this is. Listening to it reminds me of how I feel when I've drunk way too much beer and the sun is coming up.
This ruled my afternoon. Thanks.
WOW. I cannot believe how well this works. I could be inspired to start a band using this as it's influence. Amazing.
