It's about sharing hard to find and special recordings. It's not about taking anything away from the artists themselves. Of course if something is in print and you like it, buy it. If you have legitimate claim to something posted here and want it removed, just write me and I'll do so. It's definitely not about furthering any sort of political agenda, you might find some things here that you don't agree with. The views of the bands are their own and don't necessarily reflect my ideology or political views. I think about this masterpiece just about everyday....This album saved my sanity during those teen years in the mid 80s. Then finally seeing them live with Poison Idea opening was the show of shows....What a bonkers-violent gig that was! Stuff of legend! ANIMOSITY is truly a fucking masterpiece of a album. Notice how side A is different than side B because of the timing of the recording by almost a year. Big difference but somehow works just like how Mark Twain changed gears in the middle of Huckleberry Finn. I know....apples and oranges but still...Punk-Thrash Perfection!

This is in my top 10... ever notice Woody Weatherman is wearing a Slayer shirt on the back photo of this record and Jeff Hanneman of Slayer is wearing a C.O.C. shirt on the back Cover of Hell Awaits released the same year?

gateway album, man.. sucked me in, lead me to bigger & badder things, & has been kept me listening since '85.
B side ranks next to my war's side 2 as all-time best hc album side...
i've also held it against brian slagel for the shitty sounding side 1.
I actually found out about COC around Technocracy...then found this and initially didn't like it (hey, I liked Simon Bob's vox). 20 years later Animosity's regular help on the iPod whenever i can make it to the gym...
100% thrash classic,no need to D/L this since I got it on cd,lp and tape!

I agree this is really cool..kind of
But it should be because they are one of those bands it seems who have painstakingly listened to other sucessful punk bands prior and striped out the catchy riffs or rather small sections of riffs to piece together their own songs..its actually common practise for bands who can play (musos) and dont have any ideas of their own to do this
For example on kiss of death you can hear aint nothin to do by the dead boys and on hungrey child you hear stab your back by the damned.
Took me awhile to realise they are/were a rip off band but as I said cool..kind of

I'll never understand why Mike didn't remain the vocalist. What a howl, what a record.
("Six Songs with Mike Singing" is also a minor masterpiece.)
NC hardcore is shit now, but this was the good ol days.
Fuckin classic! That skull-helmet is one of the iconic images of my youth.
Oh, and the Halloween mix tape. Listening to that with my two-year-old really added something special to the holiday.

Classic crossover action. Opener 'Loss for Words' is incredible. I like COC whatever they do really.
I saw them on the Animosity tour as a three-piece, which was my favorite COC era. I lost interest after seeing a few Simon Bob era shows, and then I didn't pay attention to the newer material at all.
The Mike Dean bum dreads and eyes-rolled-up-into-sockets action was pretty fun to watch.
Someday I'll check out the newer material, but will have to just consider it a different band to give it an honest shot.
Always wanted to hear this album. I actually like the latter day COC material alot but have always heard this early shit was... the shit.
absolutely, unquestionably, one of my favorite records and one that has influenced my listening ever since first bludgeoning my skateboard-riding ass back in junior high...
Maybe the very first hc/punk record I ever owned. Made everything else sound tame as hell. I remember not being sure if the record was defective or not because of all the little feedback squeeks all over it. An older friend assured me "That's part of the music!".

Every band I've been in since the early '90s has done a COC cover. Jack Saints used to do "Kiss of Death".
So, so good.
I own the record but it's nice to have it in the Ipod too. I've had 3 different copies of the cd, each one got "borrowed" forever. Good Blog, Thanks for putting this up.

saw 'em last year with danzig or some other has-been; a friend and i yelled out "animosity!" or "positive outlook!" during each break, only to get confused looks from the whole band...
