Hail Satan! Cosmic Hearse Turns Two!

That's right, Cosmic Hearse is celebrating its two year anniversary. Big thanks to all the readers. What I'd like you all to do today is leave a comment telling me of your absolute favorite discovery from the Hearse, that record you had previously never heard before but blew your mind. That would be a nice way of showing your appreciation, should you be so inclined. Anyhoo, here's to another year of hearing and discussing special albums. I love you all.

Good stuff. For this, I have cut my genitals off in praise of the Hearse. Thanks you for tons of amazing uploads, and don't let this blog dissappear!

I just want to say thanks for everything on this site Aesop. I moved to Portland about a year and a half ago and I left all of my music in storage in California. For six months I got my music fix from this site. Personal favorite discovery on this here site would have to be Fate's Warning "Awaken the Guardian." Up until I was introduced to that album, the only thing I knew from F's W was a really crappy video/song I had watched on an old Metal Blade Video Comp from the mid-90's. Oh yeah, thanks for all of the ZZ Top vinyl rips to. - Zac

Gift Horse. For me . Your writings, User comments. You have created an amazing musical haven on this great big web. But mostly for S.Bowlin's comment regarding DEATH, scream bloody gore. I mean really, this just puts me in the holiday spirit, and will, year after year. Thank you for all that you do.

Congrats on the anniversary, you have one of the best blogs I've read. I discovered it just a couple of days ago, and have now read through every page. With all the great stuff here, I haven't even been able to listen through all the albums I've found, so I can't choose a favorite yet.

But yeah, happy birthday to the Cosmic Hearse, and keep them posts coming!

congratulations & thanks for all the good stuff! pretty much everything you have posted here has been great, especially the obscure black metal gems. think i have enjoyed marblebog, stella polaris and bilskirnir the most.

For me it's Buffalo. I've now bought the first three cds but it's Volcanic Rock that I've been hammering the most. The weird thing is that Dave Tice plays every saturday afternoon at a pub 500m from my house (with Mark Evans the original bass guitarist from AC/DC)and I didn't really know who he was until I found your post. A thousand thank yous and congratulations.

Sorry--late to the party, just got back from Humboldt and uh, my brains a little foggy, haw. Well, fuck man, so much shit on here don't know where to begin, so I'll nominate a genre. I guess I must say the GISM and related japanese weirdness death trip shit, including the boredoms side-side-side-side project stuff. All that crazy stuff just fits the wacky times we live in. I would imagine it'll also come in handy when I commit seppaku.

Thats tough, I don't think I can name any specific album, really just the 70's / van rock stuff which I am in love with now, also your Bone Awl posts got me (somewhat) into the really raw side of black metal, maybe someday I will start utilizing your vast knowledge of raw satanic power, but for now I think I will stick with the custom van rock and aviators.

Ata Kak...by far one of my new favorite albums...yeah, it's originally posted on another blog, but you pointed the way.

From here 100%- I'd probably hafta go w/Lazybones.

That Lord Asmodeus tape was pretty cool too in its own goofy way.

Happy two yearriversary; have yerself a sippy cup of blood from a slaughtered virgin. Who's a big boy? You are! You are!

i'm late as usual :-/ better late than never though....
happy birthday, hearse! i found this blog sometime last summer, and
i've been hooked ever since! although i'm far from being a fan of
black metal, or progressive rock, you have my deep respect for
the stylistic diversity of the stuff you post, for the good, well
thought out writing, and for not pushing any political agenda! my best
finds around here were these: roach motel - what the hell... (been looking
for this for a long time, and it didn't let me down! florida hc rules!);
autopsy - mental funeral (a fucking masterpiece of sick creepy
sleaziness!); dr. octagon - dr. octagonecologyst (it's great to hear
some hip hop that is not infested with dumb gangsta shit); suffocation -
effigy of the forgotten (didn't hear this album for years! still a
fucking killer!); kreator - pleasure to kill (another rediscovered
classic i didn't hear since i stopped using cassettes)... ok, that's it
i guess. i wish you lots of energy and enthusiasm to keep doing this
blog, and keep it as diverse and interesting as it was up until now!
cheers!

Uriah Heep and Forest of Stars are the two big ones. Woodsmoke tapes are also another amazing addition.

Thanks for everything Aesop, this blog is always hiding inspirational material (usually in the form of psych or doom).

Impossible to say. I'll say Marblebog. But that's an inadequate answer because some of this shit has been life-changing or led me in life-changing directions. When and if this blog ever ends I will weep. Weep!

There has been way too much cool shit for me to narrow it down. But the main thing is that your writing is always good, sometimes better than the music it(quite entertainingly) describes. Write on and rock on, brother, as long as you can stand it.

I missed posting something on the 2 year anniversary. Your blog is simply amazing and I loom forward to seeing what classics, gems, or obscure finds you might post daily. Best of all, you don't limit your musical tastes to just black metal, goth, etc. Music is the source of life and warrants diversity. I am personally glad your blogspot exists. Cheers.
