Crab Society North

Perhaps when you were a kid you and some friends got hold of a tape deck and delighted in the simple fact that you could record fart sounds and dirty jokes and then play them back. Remember how funny you thought you were even though the majority of your jokes and skits would not be understood by anyone outside of your small group of giggling, tittering half-wit chums? The Crab Society North Demo, the first release by a band of Long Island wise asses called Stormtroopers of Death, operates in much the same way. The tape features S.O.D. engaging in a barrage of short blasts of sound with such in-joke titles like "The Poisonous Midget" and "Danny Spitz Will Fuck Anything." I'm sure they thought this was hilarious at the time, but whether this was distributed beyond a tight-knit group of fellow goombahs and walliones is unknown to me. Sixty-two "songs" in 14 minutes, and plenty of references and jokes you won't get unless you were in Anthrax or S.O.D., which I doubt you were.

I think I have this in the embarrasingly large folder of downloads I haven't gotten around to listening to yet, but if not, thanks! I can't believe I didn't even know this existed until a few moths ago.

i'll be sure an DL this when i get home tonight i'm sure its worth a laugh or two, much like the 'Slayer Speaks comp over on

I saw Scotty Ian in a parking lot in Westwood last year. I just said "hey, Scotty." To which he replied, "Right on, bro." It was pretty rad, though I guess it doesn't carry into print. Sorry. And I still like recording stupid shit that's only funny to me and my dick and fart joke-obsessed buddies.

As an SOD fan from early on, I was shocked to discover this thing existed just a year ago or so. I tracked it down, listened to it once, and thought "hmm." I think I deleted it after that.

Still, though, kinda neat to hear that one time I guess.

The best thing about this tape is that at least the guys are having a great time doing it.

You would be surprized that this tape circulated well in the tape traders circuit. Have it on tape somewhere. Listened to it a few times many years ago. Not really interested in listening to it again :)
