Earth's third album called Phase 3:Thrones and Dominions from 1995. Gone is Dave Harwell. This incarnation was mainly the work of Dylan Carlson. Perhaps Earth's most overlooked release, it is also one of the most unsettling. Bad trips.
As a novice to Earth and the drone scene in general, I was pleasantly receptive to the last Earth posting (2, I think). Even purchased Pentastar which I think is fantastic...looking forward to digesting this one...Bad trips, musically, are usually alot more interesting than the good ones.
Thanks for the post! I appreciate your descriptions (especilly back for Extra-Capsular Extraction), as they help make sense of what appears on the face of it as rather ordinary moody metallic drone, but dig a little deeper and there's a powerful and original (and intelligent) aesthetic.
It's about sharing hard to find and special recordings. It's not about taking anything away from the artists themselves. Of course if something is in print and you like it, buy it. If you have legitimate claim to something posted here and want it removed, just write me and I'll do so. It's definitely not about furthering any sort of political agenda, you might find some things here that you don't agree with. The views of the bands are their own and don't necessarily reflect my ideology or political views. Of course comments and suggestions are welcomed, but don't be hurt if they aren't responded to or taken. I will do my absolute best to be accomidating. Want to contact me? Do it here:

please put "cosmic hearse" in the subject heading. The main thing to remember is to enjoy the music and share the site with friends. Thanks for riding in the Cosmic Hearse.---Aesop

The cover art alone is unsettling. D:
But I guess Earth always had weird (and pretty awesome) covers.

always a strange and challenging band. Never a leisurely and expected listen with these guys.
What do you find unsettling about this record?
More of a contextual reason rather than anything on the record. It was an extremely difficult time for Earth, and I think it sort of shows.
Righteous. Thanks for the post, man.
