This is no rumor. It was confirmed by his wife that Ronnie is, in fact, dead.

Rest In Peace, oh Holy Diver.

Such an incredible voice. Metal wouldn't be the same without him... in fact, it might not be at all. Such a great talent, until the end.

He ended a lot of shows with We Rock, I think it's only appropriate here:

We pray to someone
But when it's said and done
It's really all the same
With just a different name

So many voices
All giving choices
If we listen they will say
Oh, we can find the way

But we'll sail on, sing a song, carry on
Cause We Rock...

Mourn now, but once you pass unto the next plane you shall be grateful that Ronnie James is there to guide you up onto the rooftops of hell. Here's hoping you've earned it.

I saw Dio a few years back. He was opening up for the Scorpions & Deep Purple. The others bands seemed like they were just up there for their paycheck but he was still rocking out!

This was crummy news. The man was just plain awesome in every respect.

Words like 'legend' and 'icon' are banded around far too much nowadays, but when it comes to Dio, all hyprebole is put aside.

A great loss. He will be remembered

Well said MAGMA. Farewell DIO.

Goodbye, Dio. You were the best.

Listening to 'Heaven and Hell' right now.

Fuck. This man's voice was a monolith of confidence and focused devotion.

Onto the Silver Mountain with you Dark Prince.

Jesse Carter said...

The Lord will Judge Dio, and Judge him, the BEST.

I wish I could be there with my sound system to fry whatever's left of the brains of these sad fuckers with Live Evil at full blast:
