Der Golem

Here's an incredible release called Zmet from the little known Russian postpunk band, Der Golem. Apparently one of the two members took his own life shortly after this was released in 1999, not terribly surprising when you listen to this. Pure existential ennui transposed into sound. Bummer.

Well, dang. I can't open the file--apparently it's "corrupt or invalid."

I just dl'ed it and it worked fine. Perhaps try again?

When I looked at this post, I was pretty sure it was going to be something I was not interested it, but I was interested in seeing what postpunk was.

And damn this album was awesome!

Aeosop-
I can't open the file either. This is the message I got:

'The key you provided for file download was invalid. This is usually caused because the file is no longer stored on Mediafire. This occurs when the file is removed by the originating user or Mediafire.'

Dang, I really want to hear this one!

I have dl'ed it twice and it was fine. I guess if I hear of more issues I can upload it to an even suckier host. What kind of browser you using?

Aesop-
I need to retrace my last comment. I tried downloading it a third time and it worked!

yes, this is a lost gem indeed. I have downloaded tons of obscure post-punk from blogs like mutantsounds- and half the time the stuff was just not to my liking. But this- this is amazing. As grim depressing as it gets! :)

From the original Anonymous: I tried it again, too, and this time it worked fine. I think it was just a temporary problem on my end last night. At any rate, I'm listening to it now, and I'm pretty sure it's rewiring my brain. Odd but sort of hypnotic. You share some great stuff here, man.

Damn, I really want to hear this but I also can't download it. I download from mediafire all the time and even use it myself for my own blog so I don't see why this is happening. Could you upload it to something else? Thanks man.

Does anyone have a decent tracklist of "Zmet"? With the time of the tracks aswell. Because all I get is "Ñîëíöå 츛òâûõ" and "Ïòèöû". Thanks.

There are two known releases by Der Golem, the first is this one, "Zmet" also titled "S Shumom Lenty" (With The Tape's Noise) and the second is "Disciplina Vzorvannykh Mostov" (Discipline Of Blown Up Bridges) dated 2000. None of the two had proper release; it's just bootlegs hence various tracklistings (at least three variations for "Zmet"). Be sure to check out other Roman Sidorov's projects especially great drone / dark ambient Staruha Mha.
