Paid In Full

Another mandatory late 80s Rap classic. My friend Danny B had given me a tape of this album with Candlemass live on side B. It was my favorite tape, and now those two albums will always remind me of each other. Bring this back into your life for the Summer.

if there's someone who did it better, it's news to me.

I saw these guys in concert with Run-Dmc,Public Enemy,EPMD,Jazzy Jeff&Fresh Prince,Stetsasonic back around 1988.Still got their early 12inchers..theres an expanded edition of this LP out now that has lots of extra remixes and stuff...Mike/http://convulsingdischargeofinanity.blogspot.com/

It's kind of mind-blowing how many acts lift quotes directly from this album. I like Let the Rhythm Hit 'Em a little more but this is solid gold. Rakim was the prophet.

Rakim has such a great voice and unique flow. I miss when the MC and DJ were partners. They've seemed to have gone in opposite directions nowadays.

for the two of you that have NOT seen Yacht Rock!

There has to be a Rakim-Candlemass crossover band that needs to be created.

Raklemass? CandleKim? Candle M. & Rakim? so much potential...

miss you man

Rakim is the best brag-rapper ever. I too prefer Let The Rhythm Hit 'Em. Even the follow up has some solid material, especially the hard-hitting "Juice" (from the movie). Give me this, early Ghetto Boys, and early Schooly D and I'm pretty much set as far as rap goes.

i think instead of the Rakim/Candlemass cover band, you should just spend an evening with your computer, a few 40s (or Boone's Farm Grapefruit perhaps), and some editing software and emerge the next morning with the most crucialest of dance floor mash-ups.

then sell your creation to a hip DJ, and Ezra can start thinking about retirement!

Another great band that Danny B introduced me as well, back around 89'-90'. The soundtrack to the movie "Colors" has a remix of "Paid in Full" that is probably my all-time favorite remix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDBeSszh8Ok

Fuck yeah! For some absurd reason, I didn't rip this to mp3 when I moved halfway around the world two years ago, and so many times I have come close to just buying it again... now I don't need to. Thanks for the upload, as always!
