Hard Stuff

After leaving Atomic Rooster in 1971, John Cann formed Hard Stuff. In almost no time at all, the band was signed to Deep Purple's vanity label, Purple Records. The result was Bulletproof, a total ass-kicker of a hard rock album that, although it didn't receive much attention, is an energetic slab of dirthead riffery with swagger and style in spades. I'm pretty sure you'll go ape shit over this one. Oh, and check out the guy on the top left of the cover...How fucking high is that dude? Nice work, bro.

I can't get enough of this decade right now. I just took out a bunch of deep Purple cd's from the Library and have been catching up with those. This is a great time for this album as was the scorpions post. as far as early 1970's hard rock goes, do you know if Jerusalem put out anything besides the S-T Lp from 1972. That thing fucking rocks too and the 9 songs just don't satisfy. I don't see the link to the Wicked Lady stuff anymore, waht happened to it?..............Troy

Jerusalem never gt out a second album, sadly. The Wicked Lady link is fine, definitely get that one.

this is great stuff. Atomic Rooster churned out some great material and this is on the same level.

also if we're talking 70s again then I will always give endless props to BÖC. If that band ain't one of the finest purveyors of flawless hard rock majesty then I've been wasting a lot of my time. Tyranny & Mutation and Spectres just can't be topped.

Dude's right about BOC. This guy's voice sounds a little Pentagrammy at times. A rockin' album! Thanks dude, I just took my shirt off!

I just heard John Cann's solo album with members of Status Quo (after he changed his name to John Du Cann) and it is sweet power pop greatness. Apparently, it was recorded in the 70s, but not released until the early 90s. Like T. Rex played by the Sex Pistols and much more consistent than Hard Stuff. Definitely grab it if you can.
