Another Great Blog Post

It's Valentine's Day, so the second Ludicra album, Another Great Love Song, seemed appropriate. This was recorded in 2004 by Billy Anderson. Hope you like it, we worked very hard to make it. Oh, and our new album The Tenant will be for sale through Profound Lore in about a week, and we will be touring North America in April. See what I did there?

Awesome. I got this on vinyl from the last decent record store in town as they were closing. I got a huge stack of other stuff the same day, and haven't gotten around to this one just yet.

Say what you will about vinyl being the only format worth serving music on, etc...Hot damn, digital music is fucking convenient.

Thanks, Aesop. Can't wait to hear it.

Awesome album. And on vinyl it's even awesomerer. That how good it is, it validates "awesomerer" as a word.

this was the album that changed the way I though about the possibilities with black metal. Made a definite impact on me, and it's still my favorite of y'alls.

Aesop, did you recognize that you were mentioned in SF+L # 21 when people were asked "Gimme your all-time top 5 Punk/HC drummers"?

Weirdly, I was in band practice this morning and someone had left a copy of this in our room, and I was just about to dig it out this evening.

Tour Europe. Play Ireland. There's a bunch of folks who'd kill to see you.

It was my distinct honor to record this masterpiece with you guys.. For me, it conjures dark sonic images a dark time..There were many trials and tribulations; numerous obstacles- technical, mental and logistical-had to be overcome and conquered in order to make this album. Having come through it with such a stellar end result is one of my personal proudest moments. Thank you for requesting my presence.

Thank you, Billy. You worked tirelessly for peanuts on this one. It does evoke some serious conflicts and darkness, but that is Ludicra. Guns, whisky, nose drugs, ex-girlfriends, sonic terror...It's all there.

this is an amazing album that i go back to alot- it came out in a time and place where i was having girlfriend and nose drug issues, living in a city i could no longer afford and was starting to feel more disconnected to each day,and christy traded me the vinyl for a copy of Mercyful Fate "Melissa" and King Diamond "Fatal Portrait" on vinyl..2 great albums i was more than happy to trade for this amazing masterpiece to an awesome person who had part in creating it. "Why Conquer?" is still one of my all time favorite songs, and walking thru the alleys of seattle last week blaring it was surreal. thanx for this

I liked how you tied in Another Great Love Song with the Tenant promo, but what I liked better was how you followed yesterday's 'BLOG POST' with today's 'ANOTHER GREAT BLOG POST". It's. All. Working. On. So. Many. Levels.

Brover and out.

I dug this album so much at one point I thought I was going to have to buy a second copy. I haven't done that since "Reign In Blood". I don't think I can give a higher complement. I think everyone played great on this record. John has really created his own voice on guitar.

An absolutely gorgeous album. Demonstrates what is possible with black metal. Really hope to see you you on tour. Can't wait for the new album.

Scored this one not too long ago. It's always in the rotation. I just hope I get to catch a show sooner rather than later. I appreciate you guys carving your own path, rather than imitating an existing paradigm. That alone keeps jaded fools such as myself a reason to get excited.

Ahhh Aging Ghost...yes..This album still gets plenty of rotation on my stereo. its just beautiful. I remember selling the LP to a father for a son who wrote it down for his good old man for an x-mas wish list about 5 years ago. ill never forget him in the record store looking down at the sheet of paper with his eyeglasses slipping slightly and slowly pronouncing LOU DIE CRA? it was too endearing to correct him...Saludos.

damn five years ago? time is going by way too fast.

this was my introduction to ludicra, and quite the beautiful brooding one. At the time, i had yet to year such kind of thrashy blackened awesomeness. i thought the guys at AT had lost their mind in the best way possible.

Loving this. As some have already mentioned, it really pushes the boundaries of black metal. Evocative. Great use of silence. Thanks!

This was my intro to Ludicra as well... good shit.

Excited as hell for the tour, but since the Mayhem tour was canceled, what are the plans now? Please tell me you're still gonna tour with Krallice...

Aesop said...

KK, hrmmmmmm. Yes.

Delightful.

Saw you guys when you played Il Motore in Montreal last winter. After a butchering of Krallice's sound due to an idiot at the boards I was blown away by your guys off the cuff sonic perfection, to speak nothing of your spell-binding performance. Having been an avid passenger in the hearse for a time I had intended to chat you up at the merch table but frankly was so struck and left in awe by the performance I couldn't get my social senses in order. Walked home through the frigid streets with this playing on headphones was a dream. Come back and we should actually talk!
