Råg i Ryggen was a short lived prog/hard rock band made up of some very young and talented musicians from Sweden. This was their only album, it was released in 1975, and it is fantastic.
due to you i ´ve gone hunting for other rare and great seventies albums - the hearse is currently one of the most unconventional and most interesting blog PERIOD - harry lime
I met some Swedes this past week who actually know one of these guys. Swedish was deciphered. The last track is a love song with pretty good lyrics, especially for a bunch of teenagers, but the first song is about peer pressure and how it's okay to not do drugs!
This is phenomenal stuff, though. I've burned copies for several friends now and everyone loves it.
That's awesome, Eric. Some of the lyrics are in English, and are pretty trite, but these kids could really play, and more importantly, construct a really great song. Any Idea what the name is about?
They said the name means something like a person who can stand up for himself or is brave. One of those things where there's no word for word translation.
This band is the closest Sweden gets to Deep Purple, kind of. But cooler. They're more or less adolescent, which is properly reflected in the amateurish (but very charming) lyrics.
The song about how dangerous it is to take (mainly psychoactive) drugs is clearly based on their own experiences.
Literally the bans name translates into "Rye in the back"!!!
Of course this is an expression that isn't supposed to be translated literally... As a previous poster stated, it's about having guts n' balls.
It's about sharing hard to find and special recordings. It's not about taking anything away from the artists themselves. Of course if something is in print and you like it, buy it. If you have legitimate claim to something posted here and want it removed, just write me and I'll do so. It's definitely not about furthering any sort of political agenda, you might find some things here that you don't agree with. The views of the bands are their own and don't necessarily reflect my ideology or political views. Of course comments and suggestions are welcomed, but don't be hurt if they aren't responded to or taken. I will do my absolute best to be accomidating. Want to contact me? Do it here:
