Monkeys Tear Man to Shreds Man Never Forgives Ape Man Destroys Environment was the name given to Burmese's first official full-length. Back when I posted the follow-up, A Mere Shadow and Reminiscence of Humanity I described Burmese as "Inspired by the sheer negatronic fuckery as Whitehouse, the plodding crush of Harvey Milk, and the methlab grinds of early neanderthal power violence, Burmese are like a particularly brutal prison rape of sound." I really couldn't have said it better myself, even though I did. Don't enjoy.

Did they break up recently? i saw a bunch of huge stickers arround the city that said "Burmese is dead"
"I really couldn't have said it better myself, even though I did. Don't enjoy."
Haha. You really do this writing stuff well, man.
And yes, I like this band. I've never been able to take electronic noise but my liking for this stuff makes me feel less of a wimp. Thank you.
...
np: Lemonheads - It's a Shame about Ray (anyone like this?)
No, they are alive and well. "Burmese is Dead" is the name of the band's first self-released album which, though I have the files, can't find a hard copy anywhere. They have revamped the line up a bit since their inception but they are going strong, being wrong, and all that shit.
These guys are great, thanks!
I was just listening to this and "A Mere Shadow..." last Friday. Fucking plodding deathgrindhatenoise, love it.
a never ending stream of pure negativity and hatred.exactly what the doctor ordered for these days of happiness and joy.
Self-quote!
I don't remember your posting anything by these guys, so I'm checking out both of them.
Doesn't Weasal Walter of The Flying Luttenbachers fame play drums for these guys now?
I'm a huge fan of FL so if that were to be true my interest in hearing more of this band's output has gone up considerably. The man is a force of nature on the drums.
Burmese is incredible. You described them perfectly in your earlier post. I first checked them out because Tumult saw fit to put out an album. Always a good reason to give a band a listen.
e normous: yes, i like that album, and actually listen to some of it often.
at their best they are quite sick!
(although not nearly in the same league as the band names used to describe their sound...whitehouse, drop dead, mitb, harry pussy, harvey milk, etc)
thanks for all the killer music Aesop! I just did a Burmese post at my blog with a link to Cosmic Herse. http://mindexpulsionaudio.blogspot.com/
Burmese's finest hour in my humble opinion is the 'Men' album on Load AND the 'White : Interpretations of Whitehouse' album on Planaria. I believe that 'White' was release at the very same time as 'A mere shadow and reminiscence of humanity', but i could be wrong..
The splits they did with Cadaver Eyes, Fistula and other are quite good as well. I discovered tUMULt from a Burmese cd and damn was it a wonderful find !
Hey, if you have any Burmese aside from these two albums, I'd really appreciate it. Haven't been able to fnd the first self-released, White, or any of the new vinyl online, and though I own most of it I have no means of rippin'. Appreciate the work!
more to come soon, rustmouth.
