The League

Yeah, I know this record isn't super rare, or cult, and is a bit dated, but in the spirit of the League themselves I gotta say "Fuck Off!" It's great fun, it's a drunken night out with your lads where the pints are flowing and the birds are friendly. There may be a fight and the bobbies might come along and kick ya in the bollocks, but so fucking wot? Okay, I'll stop now.

Wow, Anti-nowhere League, i haven't thought about these guys for a couple of years. I wanna say how it was ages ago i was a scrawny 14 year old running around singing their songs and calling every one a cunt. But 14 yrs old wasn't all that long ago.

What (wot?) I always loved about the League is that they struck me as 100% gen-yew-wine in how they presented themselves. Not hard to imagine Animal living his every waking (and sleeping) moment in that codpiece, is it?

The only experience I have with 'the League': when I was sixteen, or so, my friend had a VHS with a bunch of English bands on it. I remember the Adicts, The Toy Dolls, and Anti Nowhere League, with "So What". And all I remember was something about sheep-fucking, and the guy showing off his baby-dick. Somehow, even though my friends and I were obsessed with GG Allin, and his less than fortunate manhood, I found this offensive, and 'gay'. (I just watched the video on Youtube) Is he smoking a cigarrette with his dick? That's actually pretty cool. Too bad I was such a homophobe, these guys are alright.

could anyone please spell out for the stupid Kraut wot tha fukk the "talk like a pirate day" is?

p.s.: aesop, in case you don´t know it already I´d strongly advise you to risk an ear on Tyrant´s Reclaim The Flame album! I´m in no way an expert on Black Metal but that´s the best BM stuff I´ve heard till now!

talk like a pirate day is a silly American pseudo-holiday where you talk like a pirate for a day.

thanks for this. I don't get it, though. Are these guys not taken seriously by the punk community or something? Cause despite them being kinda well-known, I never hear anyone talking about them. Same with the Germs, actually. What's the deal? I have no idea what goes on in the "scene", so I'm just wondering.

Despite being completely preposterous, I've always had a soft spot for the League's Streets of London cover. Not as good as versions by Finn Kalvik and Roger Whittaker, but definitely good for a non-larf.

Anti Nowhere League does seem to be a forgotten classic band that the new kids to the scene don't really know or appreciate. This is their best!
